Why scooters?
I decided to purchase my first home at the age of 24 and needed a low cost transportation to be my every day vehicle something I could even do in the colder days of the year and also be very reliable. Also a key winning factor is the versatility to be able to go wherever I need to go and bring all of my stuff with me example go to work, go on a long ride on the weekends, do my groceries and do all my vacations have all my camping gear for those out of town big Dan’s Motorbike Journeys! Also it’s lower cost of insurance more fuel efficient than a four wheel vehicle and you get the freedom to discover new cities, new festivals, make new motorbike friends and all the fun amazing scooter community friends I get to ride with!
How many two-wheelers have you owned?
I have owns 3 scooters a 2016 EMMO GT80, 2009 Suzuki Burgman 400 ABS, 2009 Suzuki Burgman 400 ABS with deluxe package, also one motorcycle 2004 Suzuki Marauder GZ250 but currently I only have 2 and that are my two 2009 Suzuki Burgman 400 ABS.
Do you have a favorite?
My 2009 Suzuki Burgman 400 ABS
I ride it everywhere and I also do winter time in light snow here in Canada due to the fact it’s all plastic covering that protects the engine against the exterior elements from damaging the engine. I even drove this bike in -15° Celsius with no problem. The only month that I park it is in February for 28 days due to in Ontario, Canada we get up to -32°Celsius and too much snow. And the first nice day in March I’m back out on the road!
“Have you ever rode a Suzuki Burgman 400cc model year from 2007 to 2015 so much luxury and comfort and you can carry whatever you want with you along the way blends in with the motorcycle crowd and you can also have fun with the scooter crowd! You get the very best of both worlds!"
I was riding my Scooter in light snow the big windshield on my 2009 Suzuki Burgman 400 ABS really help keep the cold wind off of me and I do dress up with many layers.
Most fun thing you’ve done on a scooter?
There is so many fun things I do on my scooter each year out of my 24,000 km year total riding with different people and clubs. But one that stands out each year for me and my awesome friends from the Ottawa Valley scooter club join with the Vespa club of Ottawa is doing the Santa scoot ride where we all dress up as Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus we also have elf and the Grinch riding in the back of the group. We ride around or city making the city smile and at the same time raising funds for the local sick kids hospital that we called Cheo. Taking place around the end of November beginning of December.
Favourite scooter related memory:
There’s way too many good memories each year made on my scooter to just choose one. It might be going to different towns, doing festivals, having friends with new and vintage scooters being able to shine your personality on two wheels and having fun doing it escaping the stress of every day busy city life and have fun on two wheels! Friends become like family! I’m the type of guy that almost always in a suit and tie just to keep up with all the awesomeness people surrounding me!
What is your favorite road to ride?
Locally I like to drive on pave road not a big fan of off roading scooter. My scooters are not equipped for off-road in the forest. In the Nation Capital of Canada “Ottawa” I like to ride the “Sir George-Étienne Cartier parkway” starting in Orleans, Ontario going all the way to the downtown Ottawa Parlement of Canada. On this road you follow the Ottawa River and get to see amazing sunrise and sunset passing multiple lookout, the Aviation and Space museum were you can see airplanes or helicopters takeoff and land at different times of the day. Continuing on the same road you have the RCMP stable where you can see horses in the field. Continuing a bit further you get the Rockcliffe Park, the Governor General estate where we have the representative to his majesty the King. Where you can see multiple embassies, statues, the Rideau falls just to name a few things to see along the way all the way to the heart of Ottawa the nations capital of Canada.
What is one “bucket list” ride you hope to do in the next 5 years? Why this ride?
In the next five years I would like to accomplish and Ride the full map of the Ride The Highlands here in Ontario a map for motorbike riders that brings you to touristy areas scenic route twists and turns restaurants, boutiques, museums, hotels and hidden gems of different city / small towns. I have done almost 3/4 of the map they also gave me a Ride the Highland badge for standing out and being such a unique fun character Spider-Dan. To learn more on what I am saying they have a website you can visit and order your free map paid by the local shops and restaurants to bring tourism to their location as well being part of this you sometime have discount and VIP parking to those locations:www.ridethehighlands.ca
A genie grants you any one scooter, what real or fictional bike do you choose and why?
If a genie grant me a wish I would be adding to my garage a scooter vans a 3 wheel. Vespa (Ape) or other names in other parts of the world a TriVespa design by Piaggio.
Why do you ride?
To have freedom to have fun to discover new places, festivals and event solo or with friends. Live life more affordable and be my main source of transportation to discover this beautiful world we live in!
What is your favorite breakfast?
My favourite breakfast would be 2 scrambled eggs with ham and home fries with whole wheat bread spread with some strawberry jam with a nice large chocolate milk! With all my Moto friends ready to go ride the whole day to are next destination until sundown.
