#3 (My Introduction Intro To My Life)
Date: April 21, 2021
Introduction!
Hello my name is Daniel Racine musician and photographer also a big fan of motorcycles / scooters. But some people do not know I have a thing for alternative energy solutions. Renewable energy one of the main reason I’ve been interested in choosing to implement off grid solutions to my life is to be more free to support my own self and be less reliant on big utility companies and have more reliability to know I have my own power. No need to worry for power outage, having a less big carbon footprint in my society also the big main reason is for saving money and one day be closer to zero $ running cost.
Some people can say I am saving a little bit the world at the same time and that’s always a good thing.
Throughout my five plus years of owning my home in the suburbs of Ottawa East I have seen the increase in Hydro, water and gasoline getting more and more expensive and I’m fighting back by not giving in to corporate CEOs making way too much money for what they really do and the service thy provide.
A lot of you have been asking me to showcase my solar set up that I have proudly made myself and love!
Most of you have a lot of questions and some of you are very skeptical about solar power and renewable energy source and how it works. I decided to break it down and explain it to you by showing my set up that I have made for myself and for my consumption needs for what I am going to be using it for. You can make your own solar set up custom to your needs but this is my needs and for what I am going to be using it for.
I will be showcasing my solar set up what I have learned throughout the five years what to do and what not to do and give you the key elements that has really helped me in my journey to having barely a Hydro bill from my city.
Note before we start I am not a licensed electrician I have learned it from different sources on the Internet and from skilled license electrician and other people living off the grid that as showcase their solar set up.
WARNING before proceed in any of these things that you are going to see PLEASE use common sense electricity is very dangerous and you have to use the proper safety equipment not to hurt yourself at all times when playing with electricity / energy! Viewer discretion is advised.
Reference guide.
A) Amps
AC) Alternate current
DC) Direct current
W) Watt
V) Voltes
Formula to calculate Watt
V x A = W
Most asked questions.
“How strong is my solar array?”
How much power do I make with my batteries?
What can I run with is and how it works?
-Breakdown-
I have 2 deep cycle AGM 🔋 12 Volts 105 Amps 20 hours at full capacity
One battery I can provide up to = 1,260Watts
Combining two of the same batteries 1,260W x 2 allows me to draw = 2,520Watt of DC power (DC Direct current) The strongest inverter that I am using to convert DC into AC (AC alternate current) what you normally use in a household plug outlet. 1000W pure sine wave inverter is what I have right now.
To be continued...
Please feel free to follow me for the next (My Photography D.R) and have a Happy Earth Day 2021!

#2 (Can You feel the Wind?) (Documentary Film and Photos Renewable Energy) Part1 Date : April 3, 2021 Locations : St-Albert and Chrysler, Ontario Camera used : Canon REBEL EOS T7i Lend used on camera : EX Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC HSM A wind turbine, or wind energy converter, is a device that converts the wind's movement in energy into electrical energy.
Pros and Cons of wind energy. Pros -Renewable & clean source of energy (doesn’t result in greenhouse gas emissions.) -Low cost of operating -Efficient use of land space Cons -Intermittent -Noise and visual pollution -Some adverse environmental impact Most asked top 5 questions about wind renewable energy and wind turbine. Question #1 -How much energy does one wind turbine produce? Answer When the wind is blowing more than 19 km an hour, each wind turbine can produce 1.5 megawatts of electricity Equivalent to a total of 7.5 megawatts on a good day. At reduced wind speeds, electricity production decreases. When wind speed exceeds 72 km an hour the turbines shut down to protect the machinery inside. Question #2 -that equals to how many homes can you power with one wind turbine? Answer In the first question and answer we have the answer that one turbine can produce 7.5 MW on one good day of wind allowing it to power 2,500 homes. Question #3 How clean are the wind turbines renewable energy and for the environment? Answer It is estimated that the energy produced by the wind farm saves the energy equivalent of 11,964 barrels of crude oil per year. Question #4 -What is the average lifespan of a wind turbine? Answer A good quality wind turbine can last you 20 years. Question #5 -Are wind turbines harmful for birds, bats and fish? Answer Sadly yes! Many birds and bats die because of wind turbines. In a 2019 study scientist studied wind project in Ontario for 10 years they found that each wind turbine kills around five birds and 12 bats every year! My Photography D.R. Today I am feeling retro so I’m pulling out some of my vintage cameras from my museum collection that I still used today and love. Today we will look back on The Sony FD Mavica families of Camera. Mavica short for magnetic video camera. The first model was release in 1997 all the way to the last generation in early 2000’s. In my collection my last Sony Mavica that I own is a 2002 a 2 Mega Pixels using Dual Media slot the 1.44MB diskette and Sony memory stick duo card capable up to 128MB of storage.
Just a small friendly remember these cameras are not compatible with the pro duo memory stick generations of memory cards used in the Sony PlayStation portable gaming device. The mavica camera using the 💾 diskette to record your image on the 1.44 MB memory later models evolved still using this memory recording format diskette and including an extra memory sometimes integrated in the diskette or a separate slot call memory stick duo card enabling you to read 4 storage card maxing the memory to a size of 128MB to be able to Capture more photos and some models even including a short recording video 5, 10, 15, second clips. Some cameras had audio to the video and some with no audio for silent movies. The storage media used back then was a breakthrough for what we know and use today it was a big revolution back in is days of released with film cameras. The Sony Mavica was the first one that you were able to review instantly your pictures on the rear view camera screen display and on inserting your memory diskette into the diskette reader on your computer to see your photos and to share with others, it was mine blowing diskette was very affordable and available everywhere. A film camera you had to bring it to a specialty camera store where they would develop the negative into a photo meaning taking a few hours even leaving it at the photo store for days to get your end result photo back to you making the Sony Mavica a game changer.
Camera left to Right from bottom image we have: Sony FD Mavica model: MVC-FD75, Sony FD Mavica model: MVC-FD90, Sony FD Mavica model: MVC-FD92, Sony FD Mavica model: MVC-FD200
